About Will
Twenty years on the mat.
Black belt. Competitor. Fort Lauderdale. The longer version is below.
I started training in [year] in [city], under [instructor name]. I didn't have a plan. I had a problem I didn't know how to name yet, and someone pointed me at jiu-jitsu.
I got my black belt from [lineage instructor] in [year], after [number] years of training and competition. I've competed at [notable events] and coached students who've done the same.
I opened the academy in [year] because I wanted to build the gym I wish I'd had when I started — one that's serious about the art and relaxed about everything else.
The mat is the most honest place I know. Everything else is noise.
How I coach
01
Fundamentals never stop.
I've watched high-level competitors get their guard passed with basics they've drilled 10,000 times. The answer is always more reps, not more moves.
02
The ego is the injury.
Most training injuries don't happen from bad technique. They happen from someone refusing to tap, or rolling too hard with the wrong people. Tap early. Train tomorrow.
03
Long-term over short-term.
We're not building you for the next tournament. We're building you for the next decade. Consistency beats intensity. Show up, stay healthy, keep going.
